Exforge HCT for the treatment of blood pressure, it contains 3 active substances which are amlodipine, valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide
These substances help control high blood pressure, to which amlodipine belongs
It belongs to a group of substances called “calcium channel blockers”, and prevents calcium from moving to the walls of the blood vessels, which prevents the blood vessels from narrowing
As for valsartan, it belongs to a group of substances called “angiotensin II receptor antagonists
” Thus, blood pressure increases
Both of these substances help stop the tightening of blood vessels, so they relax and blood pressure decreases
How to use Exforge HCT blood pressure medication
The usual dose of amlodipine, valsartan is one tablet per day
It is best to take your medicine at the same time each day
You can take the medicine with or without food
Do not take this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice
Do not take Exforge HCT to treat high blood pressure if you are more than 3 months pregnant, have liver disease, or if the level of calcium in your blood is too high
